Many cat owners think that their cat doesn’t have these problems. However, in the United States, 58% of cats are overweight.

The reasons why your cat is overweight are: inactivity, overeating, breed and neutering. The most common problems are overeating and inactivity. Many cat owners don’t have enough time to exercise with their cat. Also, they don’t have enough time to give her proper meal when a cat should eat. As a result, a cat becomes overweight. In order to know, is your cat overweight, you should know what the ideal weight is. For example, domestic cats should be between 8 and 10 pounds. Siamese cats are a bit lighter. Their normal weight is between 5 and 10 pounds. Persian cats have normal weight if it is between 7 and 12 pounds. The Maine Coon are a bit heavier. Their normal weight is between 10 and 25 pounds.

If your cat is heavier, it has an overweight problem. In order to help her, you will have to change her diet. You should know that depending on a breed and age, cats need a different type of commercial cat food. Also, you must provide enough physical activity. Play with your cat or let her be free in a friend’s backyard. Soon, your cat will become fit. If the problem continues, you must consult a veterinarian.
